Career Assistance Training

Chester River Health System offers several options for students and employees that wish to begin or continue their education. For more information on any of the following programs, contact Human Resources at 410-778-3300, extension 4008.

Clinical Intern Program
The Clinical Intern Program at Chester River Hospital Center is available to students interested in studying to become a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, radiology technologist, surgical technologist, or laboratory technician. Applicants to the program must be currently enrolled in or have completed the first semester of clinical coursework.

Bridge Program
Chester River Hospital Center`s Bridge Program offers a unique opportunity for students who need to work while taking prerequisite courses before beginning clinical study in health care. The Bridge Program offers full-time, part-time and relief positions with an excellent benefits package to students pursuing college-level courses in nursing, laboratory, radiology, or surgical technology. Students must be a recipient of the Katherine Kitty Clements Scholarship to qualify for this program.

Chester River Health System Healthcare Scholarship
This annual $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Kent County, Queen Anne`s County and Kent Island High Schools in Maryland. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.75 GPA, be actively involved in high school and the community, and be accepted to a two-year or four-year college with the intention of obtaining a healthcare-related degree.

Katherine Kitty Clements Scholarship
This scholarship offers education funding to students pursuing a career in the healthcare field necessary to meet the workforce needs of Chester River Hospital Center.

Applicants should be pursuing careers in nursing, laboratory, radiology, respiratory therapy or surgical technology. The program funds a student`s education in exchange for working a predetermined length of time at the hospital. Recipients of the Kitty Clements Scholarship must maintain a GPA of 3.0.

Awards of up to $9,000 over three years are available; funds may be used to pay for tuition, fees and books. Students applying for the scholarship should be Delmarva residents.

The Gale Foundation Nursing Endowment and the Dorothy Phillips Massey Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund
These scholarships are targeted for Chester River Hospital Center employees who are pursuing a nursing career, or who are continuing their nursing career, and are in need of financial assistance. Before being considered for the scholarship, applicants must have worked as full-time or part-time employee of the hospital for at least one year, and must continue working at the hospital as a full-time or part-time employee while attending school with the intention to remain at the hospital upon completing the nursing degree.
