Part-time, 8:00AM-4:30PM, 32 hours per week, flexible days, Monday-Friday
• Responsible for reading and interpreting health record documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures that affect the current inpatient stay/outpatient encounter. • Applies knowledge of anatomy/physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic/procedural terminology to assign accurate numeric codes to diagnoses and procedures. • Abstracts/reports required data elements in accordance with the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS). • Requires employees to demonstrate initial and annual competencies in order to remain the position. • Performs other duties as assigned by management. • Maintains strict confidentiality in all phases of work.
High School diploma required. A.A. degree in Health Informatin Technology preferred.Must demonstrate competency in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding. Computer experience required. Coder certification required. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) for Hospitals.
