Cookbook proceeds to benefit hospital

Employees of Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital have created a delightful cookbook, Good Food and Memories, whose proceeds will benefit Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital. It features over 370 recipes covering a wide range of favorite dishes submitted by employees, auxiliary volunteers, board members and hospital supporters. Included are cashier Betty Taylor's Tomato Gravy, volunteer Bill Blanchard's Broccoli Casserole and board member Maryland Massey's Apple Cake recipes.

Several recipes worth investigating include Dirty Rice with an Attitude, Disgustingly Rich Potatoes, Pepsi Pork, Ed's Killer Cookies, 3000 Calories Brownies and Barb's Barb-B-Q Anything sauce.

Good Food and Memories feeds the soul along with the body by including a hospital history researched and written by Edna Lee Howeth, RN, maternity nurse for 34 years at the hospital. Howeth interviewed many individuals from the community, including children of long-ago employees and supporters, who were involved in the Hospital's early years. Photos marking the Hospital's progress since 1928 are featured on the recipe section divider pages.

In addition to 142 pages of recipes, there is a helpful section of household tips including pan and can sizes, ingredient substitutions, food quantities to serve 100 people and tips on food storage and cleaning.

Buy your copy today and include Good Food and Memories on your gift-giving list for the holidays. Books are available for $10.50 at the hospital's Gift Shop and cashier's office.
