Watroba Wins Health Care Scholarship

Erica Watroba, of Centreville, has been awarded a $500 scholarship sponsored by Chester River Hospital Center to pursue a career in the health field. She will enter Washington College in September to major in pre-medicine.

Watroba hopes to use her knowledge and skills to help those who were born with disabilities or who have been disfigured by accidental injury. "I have been inspired by documentaries of doctors who donated their time to help victims who otherwise would not have a chance for a normal life."

As a student at Queen Anne’s County High School she was a member of the National Honor Society and was very active in sports, lettering in volleyball, softball, basketball and track and field. She received the Master of Sports Award in both her junior and senior years.

In the community Watroba has been active in 4-H as a Junior Leader and in rabbit judging. She has worked as a chairperson for the county fair. Her parents are Mark and Pamela Watroba of Centerville.

Chester River Hospital Center awards two health care scholarships each year, one to a high school graduate in Kent County and the other to a Queen Anne’s County graduate.
