Two Physicians Join Hospital Staff

Two physicians, a family practitioner and an internist, have joined the medical staff of Kent & Queen Anne’s Hospital. Margaret (Megan) D. Malaro, M.D., a board certified family practice physician, has joined the practice of Dr. Harry and Dr. Susan Ross in Chestertown. Catherine R. Cabungcal, M.D., an internist, practices general medicine with John C. Arrabal, M.D., in Chestertown.

Dr. Malaro is a native of Bethesda who earned her undergraduate degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana and her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. She completed a residency at Regions Hospital in St. Paul where she served as chief resident of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and completed a fellowship in community medicine. For the past two years she has worked in a managed care family practice in Woodbury, Minnesota.

Within family practice, Dr. Malaro’s special interests are women’s health, chronic disease care and alternative medicine. She is looking forward to being part of a small group practice offering strong primary care.

Her husband James is an attorney who specialized in family court law in St. Paul. The couple has relocated to Chestertown and is pleased to be living in a rural setting near their families; James’ parents live in Centreville.

Dr. Cabungcal is a native of the Philippines who earned her undergraduate degree from La Salle University and her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, both in Philadelphia. She completed her residency at the Hahnemann University Hospital.

She is a strong advocate of the importance of diet and exercise and within internal medicine cardiology is a particular interest of Dr. Cabungcal. She is looking forward to developing long-term relationships with patients.

Fulfilling a desire to be near the water, she has relocated to Rock Hall. A former college soccer player, Dr. Cabungcal is interested in sports and the fine arts.
