The Maryland Section of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses has awarded the 1998 Distinguished Chapter Award to the officers and members of its Eastern Shore Chapter which is composed of nurses working at Chester River Hospital Center and Memorial Hospital in Easton. The award was presented on at the chapter’s section’s annual meeting.

The Eastern Shore Chapter, which began in 1989, has provided local obstetric, gynecology and neonatal nurses with continuing education to expand their expertise and provided the latest practice Standards and Guidelines for the health care of women and newborns on the Eastern Shore.

The local chapter has served as a model for the organization of other units in the state group; there are now seven chapters statewide. This is the second time the local chapter has been selected as the recipient of this award.
