November Proclaimed
Home Care and Hospice Month in Kent County

Kent County Commissioners proclaimed November as National Home Care & National Hospice Month in Kent County, honoring Chester River Home Care & Hospice and the Kent Hospice Foundation, Inc.

The home care agency provides services for individuals needing care before or after hospitalization or after inpatient rehabilitation. It also educates new parents about infant care and completes assessments of new mothers and babies. The goal of every home care admission, regardless of the patient’s age, is to empower the patient and family toward a return to independent living.

The two agencies work together as partners to care for patients with a life limiting illness. Care is provided in the comfort of the patient’s own home and services are based on the individual’s needs as directed by their physician. Chester River provides the clinical care such as skilled nursing care, social workers, home health aides, and physical, speech and occupational therapies. Kent Hospice Foundation provides volunteer services such as family relief, equipment loans, transportation and financial grants as well as grief counseling and bereavement services. The Foundation also raises funds to support the services and programs for those with life-limiting illnesses.
