Pulmonary Diagnostic Services


Pulmonary diagnostic services performs various function tests which are used to determine the cause and severity of breathing disorders and help a physician evaluate conditions such as shortness of breath, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and emphysema. These tests may also be used to determine whether specific therapy modalities (for example, bronchodilators) will be effective in treating your lung condition.

Chester River Hospital Center offers the following pulmonary function tests:

  • Flow volume loop evaluation
  • Maximum voluntary ventilation study
  • Bronchodilator testing with spirometry
  • Nitrogen washout - lung volume assessment
  • Diffusion capacity
  • Arterial blood gas analysis

The Blood Gas Lab at Chester River Hospital Center is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.
